Access to health information is changing the way doctors care for patients. Doctors now have access to a patient’s medical history, surgeries, allergies to medicines, and recent doctor’s visits all at the press of a button. This integration of technology and health information is known as an electronic health record.

The Health Information Technology course at Regis College provides a foundation of health information concepts and prepares learners to support health information technology systems used to store, share, and analyze health information in the healthcare environment. Areas of health information technology include the electronic health record, personal health records, electronic prescribing, and the privacy and security requirements for these electronic systems.

Testimonials

The courses online were great

"My two favorite parts of the course were, first, the simulations, which make you feel like you’re getting used to a new career. I also liked the go-at-your-own pace learning. It’s nice to know you can take a second, regroup, and try it all over again. For someone who’s going to school later in life, it was great."

Courtney Rosati
The program was very easy to follow

"The certificate program taught me a lot about the physiology of the heart, more in-depth stuff I didn’t know. It gave me a better understanding of what I was looking at with the EKGs. I’m one of the more informed technicians at my current job because of this course."
